Pros

Fantastic opportunity to chart your own course while working with a great team. Everyone is encouraged to "be their own CEO." We are all here to support one another, within teams and across the broader organization. No cutthroat internal competition, turf wars or politics here. Just a group of solid, hard-working people out to collectively build something great.

Cons

An environment in which you are expected to chart your own course is not for everybody. With a great deal of autonomy comes a great deal of personal responsibility and self-directedness. Some people do struggle in that kind of environment.

Pros

Great company to start out at. Everyone at the company is extremely smart, personable, and great to work with. The product works extremely well and has hundreds of awesome features. This company is great to start out at because in order to be successful, you need to learn so many different concepts - from less technical concepts like interaction with users, project management, and communication skills, to more technical skills like interaction with the product's source code, fixing bugs/adding features to the product, learning different database types, and using the product itself for reporting purposes. Working here will give you an extremely versatile skillset. Overall, I enjoyed working at Exago a lot, and feel that the skills I learned as a Support Analyst served as a baseline to help me move on to my next great opportunity.

Cons

-The pay is decent when you first start, but the skills you learn in this role are worth more on the open job market after about a year than what Exago is generally willing to pay -The benefits are good, but not great -The product is very complicated and it takes a long time to fully understand all of the features (this could be considered a pro if you enjoy the challenge) -I felt like there wasn't a lot of transparency between the Shelton and Kingston offices, and that some of the higher-level goals of the company were not effectively communicated to the Kingston office. I do feel that there were some steps being taken to help this just as I was leaving, however

Thank you for not only being part of Exago in the past but also for your review and feedback. We have been fortunate to have many talented employees start their career at Exago and truly look to find ways to not only reward them with internal promotions, when appropriate, but with challenging roles that help build skills and marketability. We continue to look to address how to reward this leveling up in skills in terms of compensation and other factors. Mark

Pros

Great co-workers, you do get to work with some good people who, similar to one's self, try very hard to complete tasks and get the job done. Overall, your co-workers just want to succeed, and are great at helping each other out.

Cons

Exago abuses that willingness and effort by adding extra work because "competition caught up". The extra work is done with very little organization or thought, if they do, it isn't communicated down. It also seems that there are more managers than there are employees, very top heavy. Exago seems to primarily promote within, which is nice, but also means those people now have a huge responsibility of guiding other people or a product with no experience, and it shows since we are a reactive company vs a proactive one. Low pay and bad benefits (especially with the amount of work they request from you).

Exago today is a very different company than we were 12+ months ago with a broad mix of colleagues with varying levels of experience. From interns to recent graduates to internal promotions and employees hired with very specific skill sets we are always looking to improve holistically as an organization and will continue to do so.
