Pros

The people here are very dedicated to student success. They are nice and generous people overall.

Cons

The college struggles as an organization to become more efficient. Use of technology to aid in this transformation is haphazard. They have some very standard departments and roles in technology, project management, organizational development, but they have difficulty understanding how to mobilize and utilize these roles. Teams are afraid to share information and changes to processes are dreaded.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree with you on the importance of empowering employees at all levels to make decisions quickly and effectively on behalf of our students. Exceptional customer/student service demands this type of nimbleness. I also share agreement on the inefficiencies of committee systems, in many instances, when it comes to decision making. Fortunately, we’re making progress. We’re reducing the number of operational and academic committees and aligning those that remain with a respective Vice President. This will reinforce accountability and hopefully alleviate some of your primary concerns. Again, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us and I encourage you to stop by my office at any time to further discuss ways we can improve our decision-making and nimbleness. What value is the instructional core?

Pros

Working as an adjunct for this school is intrinsically rewarding, because you help meet the needs of adult learners in challenging circumstances.

Cons

While the faculty are the instructional core of the college - essential to making a college meet its primary role of educating students - there is no loyalty to the numerous adjuncts who make this possible at this school. One does not even know if they'll have a job from semester to semester.
