You get the benefit of bringing informal education to people, which can cause a spark of creativity, that literally changes the world.

Cons

It’s a middle school equivalent of who’s cool and what’s not. All pretentious, solely focused on their own idea and lost the light in terms of what the founder was searching for. Which was a place for ideas and free thought.

Pros

Great place to work in that everyone is friendly and the energy is positive. Lots of happy kids running around learning about science and families spending time together. People who work there tend to stay for many years, which is a good sign.

Cons

It's a giant organization with a lot of departments and bureaucracy and office staff can be overworked. Usual big nonprofit stuff. As an on-call researcher, I never got a sense that there was a possibility of advancement.

Fun work environment You can recieve benefits and be part of the union when you work part time

Cons

There is a clear divide between upstairs and downstairs folks. People will walk right past you and not even acknowledge Too many managers so get used to micromanaging People who would suck up to management would often be promoted.
