Pros

Smart people, variety of project topics

Cons

Most employees feel alone with no support during their career at Exponent. You are on your own in finding projects and if you don’t have a strong manager who can connect you to a steady stream of projects, you will struggle with increasing your UT. Having a low UT, you will be blamed and is the only criteria you will be evaluated with. There is no support system for new employees at least for the first year. Because of the UT significant importance, colleagues do not support each other to survive. Principals with many projects handle projects themselves with a small group of people around them to have their UT high and get higher bonus at the end of the year. Many other things I can add about the company terrible is the company culture, work life balance, etc. If you have other options, avoid Exponent at all cost.

Pros

Wide variety of projects broadens expertise. Coworkers can be really great.

Cons

Very discriminatory against minority and female employees, and those with disabilities. Success depends on personal relationship with higher ups. Management unresponsive to employee requests or suggestions. Pay is below market rate for the area.

Pros

Brilliant and friendly colleagues, good place to expand if you have the experience and network.

Cons

Managers don't know how to manage, only know how to bring in work. Management isn't invested in the success of lower level staff, since it doesn't help them bring in profits. Poor employee retention and below market salaries. You are pressured into an extremely heavy workload and often asked to work 50+ hours a week, when most managers only work 40.
