Pros

Store Manager base salary is high ($72,000 or so for external hires). Other "management" gets paid pennies and associates should expect minimum wage.

Cons

Horredous, low level District Managers who are ruining this company Most store managers almost definitely are there because they have either: A. Worked for Express for years or B. DMs got desperate and will hire anyone Absolutely no work/life balance for store managers (I worked every single day except for a few week days per month) CHEAP clothing Its impossible to hire quality people when we are offering them $10 an hour or less. Assistant managers make less money than sales associates at other companies. Training for SMS is an actual joke. You sit at a computer by yourself for 2 weeks straight clicking around on their internal website

Pros

-50% Discount -Generally decent Management -Good Hours (though Part-time hours are based on performance)

Cons

-ridiculous and unattainable expectations with no clear understanding of customer flow -high focus on loyalty and credit card application with no substantial support on its benefits or sales techniques -lots of talk on customer service standards, but focus on “conversion” with no metric grey area for employees entering and leaving, delivery people or large family groups. -expectations are high from day 1 of training and if you can’t prove yourself in your first 5 hours, you’re not trusted to be a capable person.
