Pay for hard working associates is unacceptably LOW. There were a few lazy (usually new, but not always) associates that made others pick up their slack. They also need to concentrate on training. In my second year, I still didn't know all of the in's and out's due to lack of follow-up or explanation. The new program that Express got slammed with is TOO MUCH to expect bare minimum wage workers to keep up with. There were already, email, cc rewards, and express cash coupons, plus a credit card to mention, and on top of that they add EXPRESS NEXT?! All of this was expected to usually be taken care of, if not mentioned in EVERY transaction. Ridiculous. Even the customers would feel hassled and irritated 90% of the time, and always confused. Not the way to cater to customer service in my opinion. I would also like to mention that their REGISTERS ARE ANCIENT. It was frustrating to deal with an angry customer because of a lagging and broke down computer, only being able to wait it out. All of this left me not feeling like I was compensated for the work that was expected of me. I left feeling disappointed and deflated.
