      Pros

      The culture is outstanding. Everyone works together and upward mobility is everywhere. You can truly move up as high as you want. The company identifies, develops and promotes talent from within. They will supply you with all the tools you need to succeed.

      Cons

      I can't really think of any. With the constant growth we are experiencing there is a great deal of change that occurs. You have to be ready for new and exciting things.

      Pros

      Decent pay, great coworkers. Job security. As long as you do your job you can guarantee you'll be employed. Some of the upper management is ok.

      Cons

      It was a great place for a while. But now it has changed. Promotions are no longer based on talent. If you aren't a bully, good luck moving up.

      When I interviewed with Extra Space Storage in January 2014 I was told much about the positive work culture, opportunities for advancement and competitive compensation. In two years I have found all of those to be true and much more. Extra Space Storage has always delivered on their promises. This is a soulful, caring and merit based company. Training is thorough and extends far beyond your first day. There is no disconnect between our Corporate Office "Store Support Center" and staff in the field. Few companies acknowledge, support and develop those in the field who are responsible for the success of the company as a whole in the way that ESS does. Many who work here claim to never have thought they would work in self storage. Now they cannot see working anywhere else. I count myself among them.

      Cons

      Having worked for a number of corporate retailers in the past, I have no reasonable complaint against Extra Space Storage. This is simply an exceptional place to work. I advise all talented, passionate professionals to seek a career here. You will not regret it.
