Great place to work, but not much opportunity to advance.

Pros

In general, there is a clean, organized environment with good people to work with. Good software programs are used to make the work responsibilities easier. There are many opportunities to learn new things to become a better employee, and good support from upper management to acquire the knowledge and skills for higher-level jobs. There are good company and department parties and activities. There's a pretty good work-life balance.

Cons

There's a constant push to shorten deadlines, which can make work too stressful at times. There's not enough recognition for a job being well done. Upper management can be a little too critical about one-time mess-ups. Upper management is not very open to new ideas for improvement. There's not much concern from upper management about work load for the lower-level employees. There have been various instances that a change in a certain process has caused more headache than improvement.

Pros

99% of the time the people you work with area really great people. There is quite a bit of down time if you can get things done quickly. Learn data entry and sales and other useful skills.

Cons

Pay, short lunch. Grey area of "requiring" people to purchase insurance plans and meeting quotas. If you are not living on-site or plan on working for 6-12 months to achieve on-site management I wouldn't recommend.

Pros

If you like working alone and making money for this greedy company that won't return some of those vast profits down to the people making them, then this is the place for you.

Cons

Worked 2 years as an assistant manager and was told upon first being hired that I would move between 2 sites to assist the managers of those 2 sites. That was not the case of course. Within a few weeks I was working 4 different sites a week traveling all across our district and not being reimbursed for my mileage since the DM/DLS never informed me how the reimbursement worked. Upon discovering this month's later I was told I was SOL on those past months... For some reason I stayed any way and continued to be thrown around the district, working 4 different sites a week. Never getting weekends off and never having the same day off. They then expect you to basically harass your customers to no end with phone calls of some 'new' procedure that they will scrap in a few weeks. The corporate HQ is an embarrassment as they treat their employees like numbers because that is what ESS cares about most. I have never seen a company care so little about keeping their employees happy, but they sure do like to come down on you if one of your hundred different metrics is in the red. The straw that broke the camels back was that I was requesting bereavement and was told that if I could not find someone to cover I would be denied bereavement, I didn't even know they could do that but I guess they can.
