There is good and bad.

Pros

This job is not all that hard to do. You need to learn to deal with customers and know how to deal with conflict sometimes. But other then that, the job is not all that bad. You have decent hours and the workplace is pretty casual. You spend 75%-90% of your time in the office, these people who posted reviews about them spending all their time outside must be doing something wrong lol. I spend 80%-95% of my time in the office and I work for one of the best stores in the division. You should know that you will have a lot of downtime sometimes which makes the day go by slow, so if you like to stay busy alot then you will not like it. You have pretty good training and learn alot about the storage business which is cool.

Cons

Fix Omni, people who work for ESS know what I am talking about. There is no reason for a multi-billion dollar company to have such a crappy computer software system. I know ESS makes a few million dollars a month on CPP so use some of that money to fix it. ESS will honeslty update it,and it will make it worse, (5 and 3 anyone?) I do not like how ESS sells its storage insurance either(CPP), they basically imply that we should tell potential customers that it is mandatory. They never say that out right, but its what they really mean, and its pretty obvious. The salary could be better, either make the incentive bonus better or raise the hourly rate. Also about 75% of the last 20 or so reviews on Glassdoor are fake for ESS. They might respond to me saying that real employees are posting these, and that very well be true. But most likely a District Manger or someone is pressuring lower employees to wright a "good" review.

Pros

You work in an office environment so you're pretty much relaxed and can socialize with co-workers to pass time, but there will be A LOT of time spent on the phone. You get to meet some interesting people working here - customers and employees. Feels good to know that you helped a customer in an emergency situation (you will get a lot of these). Higher management really value their employees here, and listen to any suggestions you may have.

Cons

The pay could be better. I wish we got paid commission on certain products or higher bonuses were given. You have to complete these annoying online training classes, a total of like 400. Even though you're title is an Assistant Manager, you don't have any delegating abilities because EVERYONE (except the Store Manager) is an Assistant Manager. You will get hundreds of complaints from customers regarding rent increases and auctioned off units; so you have to have a thick skin about this.

Pros

I have worked for Extra Space for about a year, I came here cause I needed a job right after college. The job isn't to hard, some days you work hard but a lot you don't work to hard. It's a pretty laid back job I would have to say, and as long as you are a good people person you'll do fine. The pay is alright, and the bonus is at least money. They do try to train you well, and you have a lot of freedom.

Cons

Sometimes advancement can be difficult, and sometimes when they do promote from within they will promote someone who is not great at the job. But I guess that could be with any company. The pay could be better, especially if you have experience and a college degree in a field that relates to the business.
