      Pros

      Great support from all levels but they do not micro-manage you or the processes. The teamwork is very good. The company and leadership respects your PTO and personal life. Benefits are good and meet your needs. There is continued growth and there are plenty of opportunities for advancement, if you are interested and put in the effort.

      Cons

      DM position mixes operations with R and M and sometimes the R and M piece can be time consuming and one can feel like they are not finding the time to drive the business! Outside of that, I don't see a lot of cons.

      Great for Customer Service centric employees

      Pros

      I have been a customer service and administrative professional for 10-12 years. I started in the Storage industry only one year ago and was quickly promoted from an Assistant Manager to a Store Manager at Extra Space Storage. Running a facility is a combination of Janitorial work, property maintenance, security, office management, administrative duties, customer service and sales. Customers and the $ bottom line are the ultimate goals they emphasize. Overall, the company goals are fairly easy to achieve as long as you are following the processes and the training the company emphasizes on a regular basis.

      Cons

      The position is heavily centric on customer service which can be challenging at times especially working with the general public We are the face of the company and if the customer has experienced a rate increase or another problem with our company, we are required to try and de-escalate and calm angry or upset customers. We can experience run -ins with people that are living in or stealing from our facilities. It feels like we are almost police at times in that you have to stand your ground with unstable people. It can be unnerving at times especially since the store is usually only run by 1-2 people. You might be by yourself at the facility most times.

      Lost some of what made it a great place to work as it grew

      Pros

      We had a great deal of autonomy in how and when to complete tasks. There was a lot of variety in tasks and I learned a lot of new skills.

      Cons

      As the company grew, the culture became more and more corporate. Understaffing became the norm, and we were running sites with hundreds of units with only one person.
