Pros

Salary and health insurance are good, benefits were good but have decreased in competitiveness

Cons

The company doesn't value employees, work life balance doesn't exist, lots of people are leaving the company and no changes have been made to stop this. The company feels very behind the times and still claims they're the best but they have nothing to back up that sentiment.

Pros

Pay is very high compared to other industries Rapid career growth opportunities for some Pension still active for new hires - not common anymore

Cons

60+ hour work weeks (no OT for engineers, we are salary) Always on-call for refinery issues 24/7/365 Pay is same or less than the design engineers that work at HQ in cushy office jobs with no manufacturing responsibilities Lots of responsibility right out the gate for new grads - some can handle it, some cannot. Career growth is for those willing to put in crazy hours or "play the game" of the corporate world.
