Pros

Pros are that there is generally good work life balance and the work can be interesting

Cons

Upper management seems completely cut off and detached from the real world and their employees. They seem to have no real commitment towards fully understanding diversity, equity, and inclusion and feel very performative. C Suite level executives rely on the unpaid labor of BIPOC and LGBTQ staff to teach the rest of the organization about DEI. They do not care about the development of their PAs and POs and pay them way under market rate. Transparency for upward mobility is practically non-existent and policies in place value years of experience over anything else. It doesn't matter how good of an employee you are, if you don't qualify for the their arbitrary years of experience standards you have virtually no option for raises or promotions.

Pros

Inspiring projects and good mission

Cons

I worked at this company for a few years and am still recovering from the horrible treatment I received from my superiors during my time there. I was repeatedly emotionally abused and bullied by my boss who was probe to throwing tantrums if things did not go as they liked. I was not the first employee to be treated badly and our department had a high turnover rate due to the personality issues displayed by this person. However, upper management was very friendly with this person and so did nothing.

Organization going down due to poor strategic vision and management

Pros

Dedicated field staff - Good benefits and salaries.

Cons

FHI360 is going down. Senior management decisions are in contradiction with expressed vision, values and strategic orientations. The merge with AED is a total failure, most former AED expertise is lost, USAID should be aware how the home office shows little respect and consideration for field staff. Such corporate attitude is not acceptable particularly for an organization working in international development.
