Pros

Generally solid, stable employment with excellent benefits. Good incentive compensation (bonus) plan in addition to salary. Many opportunities for training and professional development. The organization's mission (investor protection - market integrity) is not profit oriented and therefore something to be more proud of than typical public/for-profit companies. Facilities and technology support are very good. Average employee tenure is many years indicating many employees are satisfied and choose to stay.

Cons

Too much politics at high levels. Can be difficult to move within and up inside the organization. Management generally does a poor job communicating to employees. Some senior managers are not skilled with people managment but are chosen for subject matter expertise.

Pros

Quality of Benefits is first class.

Cons

Management is completely ignorant of the work process and evaluates all work based simply on "key performance indicators". They could care less about how employees achieve the numbers on the KPI's as long as the numbers are what they want to see. This leads to employees simply making up the numbers to fit the KPI's and the information has no relation to what is actually occurring.

Pros

A terrific place to work. FINRA has one of the best benefits packages, competitive salaries, and interesting work. Get to understand how Wall Street works from the other side. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), is the largest non-governmental regulator for all securities firms doing business in the United States. All told, FINRA oversees nearly 5,000 brokerage firms, about 173,000 branch offices and more than 677,000 registered securities representatives. FINRA has approximately 3,000 employees and operates from Washington, DC, and New York, NY, with 15 District Offices around the country.

Cons

It is a non-profit organization. The salaries are competitive and the bonuses can be generous, but still lilliputian compared to Wall Street.
