Pros

When I began, one of the key selling points was the phrase, "We want this to be your last job, but the first of many." This meant that leadership and the company envisioned you staying with FIS while exploring various internal opportunities to learn and grow. However, that perspective has changed over the past few years, and many of the advantages that were once in place have diminished. Only pro is that is in my first position at FIS, I had a truly amazing team and in my second position I had an opportunity to work with a dedicated knowledgeable group. I was fortunate to meet, work with and get to know a number of truly exceptional individuals and learned a lot from them collectively. The old executive leadership team was caring, courteous, helpful, and friendly; however, they are no longer with FIS, and the new leadership has altered the culture and energy of the organization.

Cons

The environment at FIS is unstable, with ongoing layoffs and reductions in force (RIFs) being the only consistent aspect. There is a significant lack of accountability from senior and executive leadership. Many leaders do not possess the necessary skills to effectively manage their teams, fail to advocate for their employees, and lack integrity. Despite claims of prioritizing client satisfaction and service excellence, leadership seems to focus on offloading positions and reducing headcount while pushing for increased production and development. This often comes across as “corporate speak”—saying what needs to be heard without taking meaningful action to improve conditions for employees and clients. FIS may have once been a place for stability and growth, but that is no longer true under Stephanie Ferris’s leadership. Given the constant RIFs, the decline in stock price, client satisfaction levels, and feedback I still receive from clients—despite not being with FIS anymore—I find it hard to believe that the reported satisfaction with the CEO is over 63% or that client sentiment is positive.

Disappointing Leadership Shift – No Value for Long-Term Employees

Pros

Good brand name recognition in the financial services industry. Colleagues at peer and team level are supportive and collaborative. Stable products and business domain knowledge across long-serving employees.

Cons

The new digital technology leadership is toxic and self-serving. Instead of valuing employees who have given years of service, leadership pushes them aside to make space for their own people. Career growth and opportunities for existing employees are non-existent under this regime. Decisions are driven by favoritism and internal politics, not by merit or what’s best for the company. Morale is at an all-time low, and valuable institutional knowledge is being lost because experienced employees are being forced out. Leadership talks about innovation, but their actions only create instability and distrust.

Pros

Hybrid style work. Decent amount of PTO.

Cons

Toxic, with no training and no career growth. The company was sold every two years for the last decade, resulting in massive layoffs. Employees do not receive incentives, recognition, or development opportunities. There is no exposure to new technologies. There is no HR. Managers are not supervised. There are no skip-level meetings or 1:1 meetings. Job descriptions and titles don't align.
