Pros

Locked in customer base thanks to high switching costs provides some level of stability. The company strives to be innovate.

Cons

Declining market share, high attrition, and an entirely new leadership team. Some really poor acquisition decisions have caused tremendous disruption.

Pros

If you want to work for a major player in the Fin Tech industry, FIS is for you. Very large organization with the typical attributes of a large company. They are filled with bureaucracy and NO training or direction for employees. They also pay very well if you had function in a chaotic environment.

Cons

I hired on at FIS with 25 years experience in the financial services software industry. But, FIS does a very poor job onboarding new employees and providing good training, mentoring and direction to ensure the employee have a successful experience. The admission to POOR training came from a discussion I had with one of our human resources staff members. That was a major concern they hear when interviewing employees exiting the company. Poor management structure - FIS definition of manager is someone that knows their products and customers and has been with the company many years. This is a very unsuccessful method to place someone in a management role. I worked at FIS for 3 years and worked directly under my hiring manage for a total of 5 months. Due to project load, I was assigned to another manager's project where I worked for over 2 years. In that timeframe my manager had no communication with the other manager or project team. The training plan for new hire was to sit on client calls 6-8 hours everyday. But, in the meantime there were no training provided other than on videos which you would have to partake after hours without any support. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Pros

Easy interview, ok pay, ample time to get up to speed with work pace, clear expectations communicated.

Cons

Awful culture, uninspiring office space, frequently received messages about irrelevant new corporate guidelines that never amount to anything, entry level positions (University program) cannot receive promotions for their first two years, severely limiting growth. If you're a recent graduate in software engineering thinking about the FIS university program, I advise you to explore other options. This is unless you're fine with working in any area (such as devops, ML, backend, or frontend), no matter your past experience or interests. After being assigned to a team, you will remain with that group for a period of two years independent of what you want.
