Pros

- Good work-life balance outside of release crunch. - People generally pretty nice below exec level. - Handled COVID well with shift to WFH. - Pace of work usually very slow and often predictable (also a con). - Company is big and profitable and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Cons

- Below-average compensation and benefits. - Not a team atmosphere, no sense of achievement or success, just a never-ending grind. - Execs lead through fear and publicly shame entire teams on mass e-mails. - Company is so big that you can go days to weeks without having a meaningful interaction with colleagues. - Advancement seems to be based on length of service more than ability; many people who are very nice, but not really cut out for managing people and/or projects performing management functions. - Decision makers are usually people with decades at FIS and little outside perspective; tool chains and processes are dated, with few opportunities to build skills applicable outside of FIS. - Internal communications openly tell employees that their #1 motivation should be to pump the FIS share price, company “values” are lip service and nothing more. - Delusional level of agile process worship and self-back-patting in meetings when most teams are in fact just putting an agile bow on waterfall practices. - Organizational politics constantly hamper collaboration between onshore and offshore teams.

Pros

If you have the drive, you can learn a lot and move up quickly. Just don’t expect a decent raise as you climb that ladder since you will only get 5% for movements and 2% (if lucky) for annual salaries.

Cons

70 hour work weeks Culture of fear and blame Regular lay offs (usually around the same time as employee appreciation week) Hiring folks from outside who make more than those who have proven the job (sometimes hiring men making double what women make... like Lily Ledbetter was never put in place!) Crazy phone calls in the middle of the night and on weekends Zero back up plan before walking people out Lack of POC in positions of authority No training Fighting amongst groups

Pros

Couldn't find one from the day we were bought.

Cons

I was a SunGard employees and when you bought the company over, our CEO asked that there not be a mass exodus. He said FIS is buying is for our talent. Then the hammer dropped and FIS starting chopping jobs of employees who were over 50. These employees were the ones who worked all those years and have their sweat, blood and endless time to make SunGard as good as it was. FIS disposed of these employees like yesterday's trash. I hear they said older employees cost them to much in healthcare. Well we aren't going to have maternity leaves. Might I add as a fact, the older workers had a very strong work ethic. So when you hire the younger people coming in, you will never get from them what we of ourselves and that was 100% and more. Someday the big guys will be in their 50's and I hope it happens to you. Then again, you'll walk out with a sweet package and probably fully paid benefits. WE DID NOT GET THAT! You just want to cut the payroll budget, then young kids in for less. They will never have the passion and drive we did. I have notified my local congressmen about your 'Workforce Reduction' policies. It is total discrimination. You covered your back by making us sign a form that we would not SUE in order to get out lousy little severance. You took away many people's livelihood all for your might dollar. I know for a fact that employees that are still there don't even care anymore. Why bother and why go the extra mile when they know that their days are numbered. Thank God SUNGARD never treated their employees like that. They knew the worth of employees no matter what age, because we had the long term knowledge and a work ethic that you will never have in the people you replace us with. Good Job FIS. Discrimination at its finest.
