Pros

The work life balance is phenomenal. When I worked in the lab, the hours were extremely flexible, so long as you got your work done on time and within budget. When I moved to the office, there was a 50/50 hybrid schedule, and it was still fairly lax and flexible so long as your work was being finished in a timely manner. Little/no micromanaging. The company treats you like an adult and expects you to act like one in turn. Everybody I worked with was awesome, the environment wasn't a cut-throat throw people under the bus one like previous companies I have worked for.

Cons

The pay is somewhat sub-par and below market for many(or most?) positions. Sometimes the work feels aimless, like too many departments/positions have their hands in too many barrels with no clear goals, several times there was work that led to absolutely nothing because somebody changed their mind on a whim. Layoffs were fairly common, as is pretty standard with the cyclical nature of the minerals/mining industry. Felt like there was very little room for growth/Promotion opportunities, while training opportunities were easy to come by, you were rarely, if ever rewarded for improving your existing skillset. PDRs were stupid and rarely reflected anything meaningful to the day to day job or professional development. The fact they were tied to raises made it even worse.
