Pros

I continue to be extremely impressed with the innovative and market-leading changes my company makes (not bad for a 180 yr old New England insurance carrier!). Furthermore, comparing Glassdoor employee feedback with those of our leading competitors and all the turmoil they're going through (layoffs, distracted management, disempowerment, outdated technology/systems, benefit cuts, low pay and no raises, opaque bonus plans etc.), it makes me further appreciate the value FM Global places in its employees and how competitive our salaries and benefits are. I also really admire the direction right from the top of our company - not lip service- to make diversity happen in our company.

Cons

Opportunity to be more flexible with home working. While efficiency gains have been notable in recent years, some initiatives have shifted work from experienced back-office staff to front line with questionable gains.

Pros

Overall, this is a good company to work for. They are profitable, stable and not afraid to innovate. The mutual nature of the company also makes for a better environment than a public company where decisions are often made in the best interests of the shareholders. FM Global has a good training program in place and there are many opportunities to grow within the company.

Cons

The pay could be better but the total compensation package is very good if you are looking to stay for a long term. Management in certain offices does not seem to recognize that experience is very difficult to replace. Some office have a unsettling amount of turn over and many of those who leave end up at other insurance companies. Depending on the department in which you work, the work life balance can be poor.
