Pros

Good benefits and working conditions.

Cons

Most managers shouldn’t be in their positions, and are selected for being a “team player”, and not because of skills or merit. A totalitarian state of culture exists that turns employees into robots.

Ivory tower syndrome is alive and well at FM Global

Pros

Benefits are decent; nothing superseding employer standards

Cons

The leadership is entirely out of touch with its employees and the needs of the workplace. The upper management seems unaware of how to communicate and interact with their staff. The pedestals they have placed themselves on have resulted in obnoxious egos, entitlement, and a sense of disconnect from reality outside of FM Global's walls. Everyone turns a blind eye to these characteristics that they have enabled, and it has become a bedrock for the FM Global culture. There is a significant lack of support for employee flexibility, resulting in high dissatisfaction and burnout among the staff. Many employees have requested flexible scheduling or remote work options, but senior leadership has consistently disregarded these requests. Leadership has shown little interest in listening to employee feedback, even though many employees have voiced their concerns. This disregard for employee feedback has resulted in a lack of trust and respect among the workforce, leading to a significant decrease in morale. During last year's employee engagement survey, concerns about the return to office demands were vocalized by employees. The CEO and senior leadership should have considered this feedback and focused on the input they supported. “Knowledge sharing” has been vocalized as the focus of mandating a return to the office. This is a blatant masking of the truth, which is that the CEO would instead build exuberant office space instead of listening to employees and what is important to them as an employer. I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking a supportive and inclusive work environment. The lack of support for employee flexibility and the disregard for employee feedback demonstrates an evident lack of consideration for the workforce's wellbeing.

Pros

-solid, industry-leading company, high job security -company invests a lot in specific trainings -highly flexible schedule (when not at client sites) -independent type of job (100% remote if not in a city with company office) -private pension contribution -company car also for unlimited private use, for a small monthly fee (unfortunately comes with the biggest con)

Cons

-minimum 50% overnight travel, for visiting customer sites (good hotels though, and very rare on short notice) -very niche market, engineering experience gained only useful in this industry -few and rare "vertical" career advance opportunities (especially for remote engineers) -low to average pay for the level of traveling and difficulty of the job -as in every big corporation, changes happen very slow
