Pros

Working here as a female was pretty refreshing after coming from a few places in the advertising industry where misogyny runs rampant. As a designer/developer, I had a great experience working with a creative group that was a clean slate and open for pretty much anything you could contribute.

Cons

The transparency was a little lacking between departments and I wish their had been more training for project managers, especially when they have to explain the more techy things to the clients regarding their digital products and services. Also, the platform, though very easy to use from a front end stand point, can be difficult to build upon, seeing as it's asp.net, especially since the majority of the clients want a templated option.

Pros

Great job if you're just starting out in the industry. Good work/life balance for some.

Cons

Owner is completely out of touch and petty. There is a "boy's club' attitude in the office. You only get a raise if the company feels a mass exodus coming on or you threaten to leave. Management lacks even the most basic understanding what their departments entail. Clients are allowed to walk all over employees, including swearing at them, leaving threatening voicemails and being called sexist or racist slurs; meanwhile, management says it'll be handled, which involves them apologizing to the client for having to deal with YOU. If you're a hard working employee that likes to feel empowered and appreciated at work, you should keep looking.

Thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback. It sounds like FMG Suite really let you down. We have thousands of clients, and with that many clients to take care of, our team is exposed to the full range of human character: from sweet and pleasant to, well... the opposite of sweet and pleasant. Client work is always going to involve some of this. That said, you're right we could improve how far we let these interactions go and your feedback is appreciated. Any client that is backwards enough to call one of our employees a sexist or a racial slur, will no longer be a client of ours; there never has been nor will there ever be an exception to this. All an employee needs to do is report this to their lead and someone from management will end the client relationship from there. We agree, nobody should have to put up with that and, to make sure that you're feedback in this respect was taken seriously, we met as a management team today to make sure that there was no ambiguity on our end. It's true our retail work doesn't run Agile, we adhere to an agency model because it's a better fit for our customers. However, our Dev team, (who build our web apps and enterprise client software) do run Agile: complete with Product Owner, Scrum Master, Developers (each with different velocities), and SMEs all executing within a 2-week sprint. It sounds like we could be better about iteration on the particular tools that you used. In hopes to improve in this area, we've doubled the size of our dev team this year. We'll also think about taking it easy on the number of photos that we take at company get togethers. Thanks again for the feedback. If you're open to giving us more specific feedback, please email us at feedback@faulknermediagroup.com (and don't forget to use 10-minute Email if you'd prefer to keep your anonymity).

Pros

There are some great folks at Faulkner Media Group that can be really fun to collaborate with. Nearly everyone that I've worked with has grown professionally (in their particular discipline) really quickly. The company cares enough to work on vision, has a definite identity and knows who they are. The software and services that the company offers are easy to get behind.

Cons

Startup culture has a lot of perks, but some personalities aren't going to be up for a culture that is changing and growing so quickly. Client work is always tricky business, no exception here.
