Pros

I was recognized for working very hard and was promoted very quickly.

Cons

Our regional manager is given far too much freedom and power. Since working under her both myself and my employees have been working in a highly abusive and toxic environment. We all work incredibly hard and feel that when she calls or stops by she takes the wind out of our sails. She is always angry and will literally cuss and yell if we contact her with a small question or are in need of minimal assistance. Along with this we receive no credit for our hard efforts because she takes full responsibility for all of our acheivements. I have hit a wall and am now seeking employment elsewhere as are my co-workers. They sent the community directors a survey to rate their Portfolio Manager and it stated that it was anonomous but she mentioned to an employee that she can get access to this information as she has worked for the company for years and has friends within the corporate office. Past employees of hers stated that if you go to HR she will leave you alone for a short period of time and she will then bully you until you resign.

Laid back attire, lots of open positions, the use of google.

Cons

Working at FPI was one of the most stressful and disappointing experiences I’ve had in my career. The pay is low compared to industry standards, and there are no real perks or incentives for employees. You’re expected to take on a heavy workload with little to no support from upper management. The work environment is toxic leadership often promotes a culture of favoritism, retaliation, and poor communication. Many team members are rude or unprofessional, and HR is largely unresponsive when real issues arise. Instead of building people up, leadership often tears them down or looks the other way when unethical behavior happens. There’s a lot of talk about “core values” and caring for employees, but in reality, the treatment is unfair and draining. Don’t expect mentorship, growth, or balance here only high stress, unrealistic expectations, and a revolving door of burned out employees. If you’re considering working here, think twice.

I cannot afford to keep working here! My property has been without a manager for months. I’ve been assuming management duties with no pay increase or promotion because these tasks cannot go without doing; when I inquired about both I was told “ownership has a plan for you” and left hanging. Ive watched employees at other properties who openly bad mouth the company and disappear for hours during their shift get offered increased commissions to try to bribe them to do their job as leasing consultants…I haven’t been able to pay my bills in months and am told I’m an asset to the company but am not paid as such… Additionally, in the absence of an on-site manager my pay has been short for the past few months. I’ve put in requests to my HR department and PM to get this corrected and still am short for the actual hours I worked. This is degrading and makes me feel like the company wants me to quit. If you don’t have a close personal or friendly relationship with your managers you will be kept stagnant and told to deal with it. Really disappointing to see the company’s actions fall so short of their “company culture”. I had high hopes.
