Where do I even start? First and foremost, if you're in any position besides a PM or Regional, forget being treated like a person. Assistants, Leasers, and any Maintenance are all treated like insignificant peons who can be easily replaced. Granted, it all comes down to the ownership and what egotistical, narcissistic, self righteous, lazy sharks they decide to hire. Simply put, if you want time off, you're at the end of the line and won't get it unless you beg, plead and grovel, only to have it cancelled at the last second for some bs reason, despite being promised the time. Have work that you need to get done within your job description? Good luck. You'll have to also do the 10 other things your higher ups don't want to do, on top of that and will be ripped a new one if you don't drop everything and do it first. Forget getting any credit either because they can and DO tell their regionals that they did it while you get lectured for not getting YOUR job done in a timely manner. Drama-free and professional work environment? Hah, that's cute! I've yet to see a single FPI Property in this country that doesn't run like a high school class full of vain mean-girls. Working with this company has taught me that the less you reveal about your personal life, the better because it can and WILL be used against you on days that your PM is feeling particularly testy or wants to cover up their own corruption in order to save face in front of their bosses. If your boss tells you the office is "like family", run for the hills! That is notoriously code for an unprofessional, drama-filled work experience. On that note, forget reporting anything to HR because your management team WILL find out and WILL retaliate. There's absolutely zero protection, for employees, especially when HR is states away. If you aren't outwardly fired for reporting behavior that goes against company policy, your life will be made miserable enough that you'll eventually be driven to quit. Lastly, there's almost always some form of bribery, no matter where you are. Reviews, including a good chunk of the ones here on glassdoor are bought with starbucks gift cards and emails are regularly going out, asking others to give properties good reviews on google to drown out the negative ones from residents regarding ongoing issues that aren't being taken care of because either a.) the office doesn't care enough to pursue it or b.) the office has truly tried to get it handled repeatedly but are shot down by the ownership because heaven forbid they have to sacrifice a penny from their millions of dollars. I understand this sounds incredibly bitter and I'm sure I come off as a disgruntled employee who was slighted but everything I've written is 100% factual based upon my experience with this company and there are plenty of other reviews that share my same sentiment. Never in my life have I ever worked anywhere this bad with people so full of themselves or so clueless and never will I again. FPI itself could be a great company if only it would stop working with greedy, uncaring, extremely rude and arrogant Scrooge McDuck-type owners. The CEO has the best intentions and I admire him for what he does but I really need him to take his blinders off and see that there are a lot of evil people he's partnering with who are fostering negative communities for both employees and residents alike and muddying FPI's reputation.
