Managers are young and generally incompetent, because of this it feels like high school 2.0. Managers are also unable to provide coaching or personal development, but are extremely opinionated even though they are unable (or unwilling) to work with their reports.
Gossip spreads exceedingly fast and far at the firm (others in my office were publicly reprimanded for openly and widely spreading rumors within our own office). The managers generally have negative opinions and are not afraid to speak out negatively, this tied with the propensity for spreading gossip leads to an almost tense and strained relationship between different levels of management.
Poor work life balance, almost no teamwork culture so everyone is trying to succeed individually, even if it comes at the expense of their own teammate. Everyone will say they love the work life balance, but if you are not completely bought into the culture its pretty toxic. The majority of employees have only ever worked at FactSet and have no other job experience, and this directly affects the dialogue around the firm and people's mindsets in their role.
Incompetence of management cannot be understated. Most managers would rather take control and do everything themself rather than teach their reports, or they are so completely out of touch with the product that they are unable to offer meaningful insight or help. Some managers are also unable to regulate themselves effectively, which leads to a myriad of weird and unprofessional experiences.
