Pros

Good benefits. Health insurance was good and inexpensive even for a family. Now it is just inexpensive for a family with high out of pocket maximums. 401(k) matching is 6 percent and last year I had a very good return. Employees are fun to work with.

Cons

Management does not listen to employees at all. They will do company meetings where they have a "round table" so employees can ask questions and suggest ideas, but it never leads to anything. The last one in December was a joke where managements response was "we pay legal wages, everyone makes no less than minimum wage." Which is true. So if you work there expect minimum wage and to NEVER get above that. Yes you MIGHT get a 3% cost of living increase, but you wont get more than that, and honestly that is not enough to cover the increase in rent food or insurance alone annually. Also they did just go to a 48 hour work a week work schedule for crews working 24 hours straight. They said it was for employee safety, but it happened to start right as Washington changed their minimum wage, so cut hours and you cut pay. Falck had HUGE potentional to the point the IAFF was scared. But because Falck USA brought NO values from Falck Denmark they just became another AMR.

Pros

Care has a great training program for the EMT fresh out of EMT class as well as CE training. Well financed and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Plenty of solid people to learn from. Benefits are very good!

Cons

Wages are too low, but that's standard for EMTs in Southern California. Management is like the movie Office Space...if there's an incident of any type you'll hear about it from 7 different managers.

Going down hill

Pros

911 experience, health benefits. 1 or 2 managers actually care and are quality.

Cons

Low pay. Over worked. Management is a joke. When you first get hired they serve the cool aid, and everyone drinks it. Work there a year and you find out just how poor working conditions are. Care used to be about the patients and EMTs. Now they are about money. Everyone's first priority is making sure care gets every penny. Care has sacrificed its employees to accomplish this. Scheduling is a joke . No overtime unless your friends with scheduling, then you can work as many hours and shifts as you want.
