Pros

The company culture is great. Even with an office with more than 100 people, it was very easy to make friends and get to know each other day to day and at company events. Most everyone at FPI is kind and helpful and has a great time with one another, really feels like a family. Compensation and benefits are above average for the area in most respects and work/life balance is good. Overtime is not nearly as required compared to other IT shops. Leadership is very motivated and has great ideas.

Cons

As an IT shop, remote work is lacking. The infrastructure is in place to support it but there are few work from home opportunities depending on your department/role. There are more projects and work than there are staff in a lot of cases. Projects are great and move the company forward but FPI may be biting off more than they can chew and causing some burnout with employees who have been there a while. Hard to move up career wise. Openings seem to only come up if someone else leaves, and even then FPI has many contractors to fill the void. While they come off as investing a lot in their employees professional growth, solid training is only available for certain roles.

Thanks for the review. Yes, we are busy and trying to be mindful of making sure employees have the resources to be successful. We are investing in lots of employee development, especially in technologies like SalesForce and Azure. Not sure what department you were in, but our goal is for all employees to have opportunities to grow their careers. Best of luck, Howard

Pros

Opportunities to move up to a higher salaried position. Great Customers

Cons

Internal Communication between departments is inefficient and is not a high priority within the company. Key staff are overwhelmed with work and have no flexibility to help with time sensitive issues.

Glad there are things you liked about the company. We are spending more energy on internal communications these days. I agree that we are pretty busy these days. Not sure about your last comment regarding flexibility. Regards, Howard Bruck CEO

Pros

Lot's of great people to work with. Company mission is fantastic and has a lot of potential. Benefits were decent, pay for some jobs was comparable to Hartford, CT area. Customers were supportive and fun to engage with. Opportunity to learn a lot about various technical systems is there.

Cons

Work / life balance isn't good (but with all the extra hours you will learn a lot!). More projects in flight than can possibly be accomplished with the given staffing. Onboarding of new customers is consuming every department to the point that existing projects are suffering. Several managers who don't know when to push back or set realistic expectations for project tasks create the above scenario. Understanding who has responsibility for what is a significant challenge. C-Suite has more than one under performer, and is very territorial (except the CFO who works well with everyone). Developers and Infrastructure are isolated from each other following leadership examples. Only at the individual contributor or PM level do they interact. Strategy sessions are reserved only for those deemed worthy by management (its not an actual skillset decision).

I’m glad to see that there were many things about FPI that you liked. We understand that not every company is a match for everybody, but we love where our company is right now. We have lots of exciting projects, so yes, we are busy. We just completed a very successful on-boarding of a great new customer, Farm Credit Illinois. We are also working on our next-generation platforms based on SalesForce technology and we are investing in our people. Over 30 of our employees have completed SalesForce certifications. All I can say about our executive team is, look at their BIOs on our website (www.financialpartners.com). An impressive group who are transforming our organization as we have become the leading technology shop in the Farm Credit System. Howard Bruck, CEO
