Pros

It is a fun environment, it pays extremely well for the area, all of the people are wonderful, the compensation package is top of the line.

Cons

I did not like being stuck on the phone in the call center arrangement. I would have loved the job if it had been structured like an office setup, personal responsibility for breaks and lunch, etc. I was also disappointed that less than a month after I hired on, they changed their compensation package. It is still a very competitive package, but I selected Farmers as an employer because they were one of the few companies that still offered a pension plan in compensation package. I clearly stated in my interview that this was one of the draw for me to the company, when asked. Yet my interviewer never let on that the company would no longer be offering that to new employees, which I was going to be.

Pros

The only good thing about working for this joke of a company is that it looks good on your resume for when you find a real job. Many employers know what a sweatshop this company is, therefore when they see that you were able to last at least a year you are as good as gold on the free market.

Cons

I would say that every aspect of working at Farmers Group is a down side. I thought that they abolished 150 years ago. After working here I see that I was wrong. My advise to new college grads that were either tricked or forced to accept employment here is to use it as a resume builder and not to stay longer than 18 months max. FYI, they don't want you to stay longer than 2-3 years anyways as it saves them billions on retirement and health benefits. Hence the true nature of Farmers insurance............an entry level burn and churn scam.
