Pros

The company seems to be in a good position. There is very little fear of getting laid off. The pay and benefits are good if you are sent to a less expensive to place.

Cons

After working at Fast for several years, there is almost zero opportunity for career growth. There is very little training or career building opportunities for middle and upper middle level employees. There is no career path. On top of that, you will gain very few transferable skills. I believe this is intentional as an employee retention tool.

Pros

You typically aren't on a project for long so if you have bad co-workers, client, or management you typically only have to deal with it for up to 4 years. Do not learn industry skills, you learn the proprietary FAST system.

Cons

The biggest thing is turnover. You will be on a project and slave away for a year becasue there weren't enought recources to allocate. You will work to get the project complete and even possibly train some others to help with the lack of resources. But you will be burned out so hard that likely you quit, perpetuating the cycle. At a certain point you no longer want to be continuously bail water out of a sinking ship.

Pros

good pay and benefits. life outside a rollout is mostly good

Cons

During rollout, be prepared to work long hours. PMs don't seem to care about the mental health of their employees. Multiple people quit during this time. Fast really needs to get up to date with the changing world and realize that ridiculous amount amounts of harm their employees and lead to burnout and loss of experience frequently. setting expectations with clients can be difficult but you have to balance the amount of work you have with mental and well being of your employees.

Fast Enterprises Response

We recognize the extraordinary commitment of our employees and are incredibly grateful for the contribution they and their families make to the company. We also understand that work/life balance is necessary to encourage employee overall wellness. Although overtime is sometimes necessary to meet our clients’ needs, these peak project times are known and communicated in advance whenever possible to enable employees to plan accordingly. We actively encourage employees to NOT work overtime when it is not necessary so that you can take the time to both relax and to pursue your personal passions. Project hours are monitored by the PM as well as the Partners and HR to determine if a particular project would benefit from additional resources. We encourage you to provide suggestions to your manager or HR on how to deliver the best value to our clients while providing employees with the best possible experience. Regarding your comment about Project Managers not caring about the mental health of their employees: It is very important to communicate with your manager about your particular mental health needs. A manager can only help if they know there is a need. If you feel you have appropriately communicated your needs to your manager and they are not responding in a way that you find helpful, then please be sure to contact HR and we can help facilitate that vital communication between you and your manager to make sure your mental health needs are understood and are being met. Additionally, our EAP program provides helpful resources regarding managing stress and offers counseling and other services to support employees’ mental health and overall wellness. We note these resources in our monthly newsletter to remind employees to take advantage of these opportunities.
