Pros

Great customers, some good field managers, benefits are good.

Cons

Poor internal systems (technology), poor upper management (inconsistent on focus of goals and OBJECTIVE measurements), lack of a consistent, fair playing field for both employees and field management. Poor training, etc. Values have dropped considerably over the past ten years. Now, its all about who you kiss up to and your greeting scores (subjective), not profit or consistent performance.

Cons

Management cling on their jobs. Nearly impossible to be promoted even if qualified. Overworked for pay rate.

Pros

A good place to learn how to be self-motivated, detail oriented, and for me a yes man. This position will teach you how to follow instructions. I learned about shipping procedures and how to interview a person to get the information you need. You will learn about printers and copiers.

Cons

At times you may work all alone in the store. It is easy to be taken advantage of by other team members. There is much to learn but sometimes no opportunity to learn it depending on the workflow. No real hold by the hand formal instruction on key areas of company success you are really expected to show a great amount of initiative in learning and maintaining knowledge about your responsibilities and duties. Bonuses come in the form of candy and small additions to the check depending upon how well you meet the sales goals. You will need to push more expensive items to the customers. Expect to be put in difficult situations where you will need to choose between customer satisfaction and management's. You might get less than 40 hours a week and the amount of hours is determined by the workflow so you can end up with some short pay during the slow season. Growth into higher positions is slow. You efforts to make things better and positive may not be welcomed with open arms. You can be held responsible for things that may not be directly your fault, it is a team environment so every one gets the same general discipline. It is possible to feel excluded from the inner circle of the store.
