Pros
Toured with a show for several years. Great benefits with travel and the performance aspect of the job. Other employees took the show production seriously and we were like a family. Wonderful and detailed production that I was proud to be involved with.
Cons
People in management roles (tour managers and directors) were unorganized and abused their power. I believe some of the lack of organization stems from the nature of the job itself as we are always on the road and there are a lot of moving parts but management often would play favorites and treat performers like children. A lot of problems also arise from the fact that those in charge when out on the road have no one to answer to and the subordinates cannot physically contact higher management. Some problems also arise from the fact that performers are "at work" 24/7 so any personal mistakes bleed into the work environment which is to be expected from this type of job. Still, no one wants to leave because the performance and travel aspects are too good to pass up.
