Career for life, if you work hard

Pros

Benefits Flexible Hours Beginning to make some long overdue updates, culturally and technologically. Bonuses given throughout the last two years to reward current employees for their hard work during a pandemic.

Cons

Pay. Underwhelming pay for those that have consistently held key departments together through trying times and changes. Programs and processes need to be updated. Undertrained and undermanaged associates. People that don’t know basic computer skills should either be trained, or let go. Little to no transparency from top down. Have to ask too many people, over and over again for any clarity.

Pros

Ok benefits, overtime which I like, paid vacation, I like some co- workers, easy to learn job, weekends off, and holidays pay.

Cons

Managers and leads like choosing favorites and do not appreciate hard working people, they keep people that shouldn't have made it past 90 days for some reason and push hard working people to pick up their slack. They do not compensate people fairly based on their skills or abilities to complete their task. Vacation time policy is horrible , can't get time off approved unless is 6 months requested in advance, pushing people to continuously call in sick to get time off, then they act surprised why people can't show up to work.

Toxic environment

Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Ferguson has some great employees. Unfortunately, they are owned and controlled by Wolseley. I loved what I did, most of my co-workers and my team but after two years I couldn't handle the bullying and horrible work/life balance anymore.

Cons

Most toxic environment you can imagine. Turnover alone is evidence of this. I feel sorry for the employees in the UK that can't even leave for three months when they want to get out. Incompetent management that are bullies. Worst part is that the bullies are known but nothing is done about it. Worked with some great people who have all left in the past 6 months. HR in Wolseley and Ferguson do not care about employees and are corrupt. If you are considering a position in Ferguson but will report to Wolseley, do some serious research. Also, ensure you have tough skin and don't mind being screamed at and sworn at; and being thrown under the bus and not supported. Heads of departments in Wolseley speak poorly of and disrespectfully about leadership in the other companies they own (including Ferguson) and in front of employees.
