Pros

Disclaimer: These are the experiences I've had in IT so they may only apply there, experiences with other groups may be different... -Great Co-Workers: Many of the people you will work with are friendly and super knowledgeable so it doesn't feel daunting asking for help -Solid Management Team: Regular check-ins not only with your manager but the senior managers too. They keep their schedules available for everyone to see so if you have any questions or concerns you can find a time to throw a meeting up or just message them about it -Excellent Work/Life Balance: I've never felt pressured to work on an off day or during a vacation, and I've only ever worked longer hours because I chose to in order to finish up some work before heading home instead of the next morning. If you work on-call and do have to work on a weekend for some reason, they give a free day off to make up for it when you're not on-call. Also the option to work from home (depending on position) is nice. Fairly flexible with hours too. If you know you need to leave an hour or two early for some reason, you can communicate that with your manager and do that extra work another time so you dont have to use PTO for something relatively quick like taking your child to/from school or getting your car inspected -Free Training/Certifications: The company will almost always approve your requests to take a training/certification course as long as its related to the work you're doing or interested in taking on -Good Benefits/Options/PTO: No concerns with any insurance/healthcare providers or with something not being covered. Health, vision, and dental are all provided. Life insurance as well. Stock options are provided and can be adjusted on a yearly basis. PTO is decent and both accrual rate and total increase the longer you work there. -Strong Job Security: The underlying business is strong and because its a private company and not a contractor, there's no concern about funding coming from somewhere else drying up -Others Notes: Working in IT with relatively high turnover rate, seeing a lot of people working there for 20+ years gives confidence that they will generally take care of you.

Cons

Disclaimer: These are the experiences I've had in IT so they may only apply there, experiences with other groups may be different... -Corporate Structure: Its a large company that sometimes takes it's time with decision making. It also feels like its starting to lose the more "family" kind of feel where people know everyone and whats all going on as the teams get more segmented into their own work. -Communication Can Be Slow: There's a few levels between the people doing the work and the people making decisions, as well a lot of different teams doing similar work. The company also is SUPER willing to buy a solution to a problem without fully getting feedback, and once the money has been spent that's the road that everyone is forced down even if they didn't want to use it. -Slow job progression: Promotions and raises are really dependent on how much you can sell the work that you're doing and not as much based on the actual work you do. If you're an outgoing person you'll find it easier to move up more than someone who will quietly do the work that's asked of them, regardless of which one actually does more/better work
