Pros

Standardization, community outreach programs, snack kiosk in break room, there are a few really talented IT veterans that I enjoyed working with, casual dress

Cons

Below industry and regional pay, poor work/life balance, no chance for being promoted from within, inexperienced IT managers hire based on certs and not actual knowledge, they hired someone who blatanly lied on their resume because they liked their personality and the rest of IT has to support, mentor and pick up that guy's slack, micomanaging and seagull managers are the norm, contractors have little chance of being brought on full time, Tech Center facility is infested with roaches and in a dangerous area and the HVAC never works, no training, no mentoring, no knowledge share, products are deployed to the associates without telling Support or even teaching them how to support them, frontline Support reps have no industry knowledge causing ticket churn and cannot resolve anything, your bonus is based on management's discretion ... hope you are good at kissing butt

Pros

Great for relational sales Reliable, if under market norm, income Some good managers Very good benefits, including health insurance and 401k match

Cons

Good old boy's club (largely sexit and racist depending on the department) Technologically stagnant and arrogantly technophobic Business model going obsolete and management driving steadily towards cliff Terrible work/life balance and PTO Pay is not competitive Majority of managers have no business managing

Pros

It was close to home - the location was easily commutable. The support staff was also friendly and for the most part treated everyone respectfully.

Cons

The extremely long hours and extremely low pay were the reason for me leaving the company. During my 3 months at Ferguson, I discovered that my immediate supervisor had given one "favored: employee a salary increase along with a 40 hour work week! The employee was and probably still is gong around telling all other employees of her special arrangement. This was my reason for wanting to leave Ferguson.
