Pros

The benefits are excellent compared to what most of my friends have. Specifically, the health insurance is boss. It's good for people who like an atmosphere where you can swear, tell filthy jokes, and be (what the rest of the world would consider - myself included) "un-professional".

Cons

If you are a man, congratulations and welcome to the Boys Club - here, have a promotion and don't bother trying to earn it *wink, wink*. Ladies, watch your backs because the men are all going to be staring too. You WILL be sexually harrassed and you won't be able to report it because they are ALL members of the Boys Club and will retaliate - trust me. Most of Ferguson's employees who did not go to college have no respect for the work we have done and think we are spoiled brats and "lack common sense". That announcement was made by a manager in the middle of a meeting: I was the only college graduate in the room. It is a hostile work environment in every sense of the word. I struggled to earn peoples' respect and make myself indisposible to Ferguson and it backfired: now I am told that I am too important and cannot possibly be promoted or transferred because there is no one good enough to replace me. I'm supposed to be flattered about that. So I am stuck doing an Assistant Ops Manager's job, although they refuse to give me any such title. I called in sick one day after going in to the air-conditioned office and then back to the sweltering warehouse repeatedly. The next day my desk was permanently moved to the un-insulated warehouse where they refuse to turn on the heat or buy fans for us in the summer. I'm still wearing the steel-toes and polos I had when I started two years ago with no end in sight. WHY DID I GO TO COLLEGE TO BE A GRUNT?!?!

Pros

This is like the 100th time that I'm writing this and I'm getting even more pissed off. There aren't any good reasons to work for ferguson unless you are a single white male that loves selling the hell out of plumbing supplies. The hours are long and the pay is low. I guess i should take that back, the people you meet, customers or co-workers, are great. it's an even mix just like with any other job. almost everyone wants out, some just feel stuck or it isn't a good economy to be looking for another job. Bottom line just keep looking.

Cons

everything about ferguson is a downside. the hours are ridiculous. you are expected to work 50 hours a week ( not including luch) so about 10.5 to 11 hours a day. you get 2 personal days per year 2 floating holidays and about 4 days off due to holidays. starting in january if you are planning on taking a vacation you will only be able to put in for 8 hours. so for every day you are off you will lose 2 hours of pay. . .yess because they call you salary but you're actually hourly. unless you're upper management with a car and all that jazz. then you are hourly and you only get paid once per month. but dont plan on making it that far in your career. you'll get tired of it or get laid off.

Pros

It gave me a paycheck, and allowed me to stay in a location that I wanted to be in. The work wasn't interesting, but we were allowed freedom to do as we wanted, to an extent. Their wasn't a lot of goals, but the laxness did allow for somebody knew to feel comfortable to learn at thier own pace.

Cons

Lack of direction. Work is not interesting. 50 hours a week did not allow me to have a life. I had a wife I never got to see much of. Management is always having to look out for themselves. They didn't really care about the happiness of their employees.
