Pros

I loved working for Fernbrook. Almost everyone was extremely friendly and really gave me a sense of "work family". My favorite part of working here, however, was the independence. The training is rigorous (4 intense weeks of classroom training and in the field shadowing), but it allows for you to develop yourself as a professional with the skills and culture at Fernbrook. This allows management to trust that you are competent and able to give quality skills training to clients (aka management does not micromanage you). Weekly staff meetings and one-on-one supervision make you feel supported and well prepared for your work. Management will also always support you with anything you need help with and they are very easy to talk to and build a rapport with. I learned so much working here beyond just providing skills training and building rapport with clients. Fernbrook taught me how to build professional relationships with other supports in the community (i.e. case managers, CPS, etc), taught me how to be creative with my approach to working with different clients, and taught me time management among many more things.

Cons

The quota requirement can be tough to achieve at times and they will take your vacation time if you get too far "in the hole". This is stressful to staff as working in this field is very unpredictable when it comes to clients keeping appointments.
