Pros

Good people in the trenches

Cons

Late 2022 into early 2023 the company imploded, the wrong people were given too much power and drove the company into the sewer

Pros

You get 9.5% commission off of all your sales. If you’re lucky, the shelter you’re working with feels inclusive and welcoming. The health insurance is nice and you do get a 401k. Your “weekends” are during the week, not on Saturday or Sunday. Salary is $45,000 with the opportunity to make more. The CEO legitimately seems like he wants transparency for sales. The new shelter portal reflects his values.

Cons

It becomes a numbers game for your sales. If it looks like you might miss your sales mark you’re encouraged to come in on your weekends to make up the numbers. April 2024 though the shelter sales team as a whole looked as if we would miss our goal, per the email by Ryan Heron who is the Chief Commercial Officer. There was a giant push for everyone, even agents who have met their goals, to come in on days off to help the team meet it. That week ended with a lot of pressure from management with another email from Ryan Heron saying that we had record breaking sales. It was a lot of push to set a goal. Ultimately, management does care about their staff. They want the numbers. They don’t foster a work/life balance. The salary is $45,000. Though during my interview there was a discussion that I had the potential to make up to $100,000. I think they said that to rope me in more than anything. No overtime. Your salary. Finding the employee handbook is very difficult. Sales managers seem to not like the new shelter portal for booking sales. It seems like they would prefer the policy be booked over transparency.

Liking The New Direction

Pros

I’ve been at the company for a year. In that time, a lot has changed for the better. For starters I’m seeing more women in leadership roles. Keep it coming. The company is growing. Who doesn’t like that?! New owners came in late last year and there have been a lot of meetings to improve outdated technology. Fingers crossed.

Cons

Company systems desperately need an upgrade. A lot of manual work to get the job done.
