Pros

Don't get me wrong - the company has a GREAT product. I recommend the product to everyone. Pets are allowed in the office and parties happen frequently. Birthdays are always celebrated. Dress code is relaxed.

Cons

Salary is exceptionally low with insufficient raises. Training is completely inadequate - you will get two completely different answers from two supervisors. Empty promises of upward mobility and opportunities to advance, however, the few promotions given are given to those who brown nose the supervisors despite a lack of experience and professionalism. Supervisors have dual personalities and pressure employees to produce unrealistic results with a poor computer system. You are told your PTO (paid time off) can be used at your discretion, however, supervisors will ask you to come in even when you are seriously ill despite being fully staffed - unless you are their friend. You are also not allowed to speak quietly with co-workers - however supervisors can laugh loudly and goof off as much as they like. Toxic undercurrent due to overworked and under appreciated employees. Excellent employees leave because they understand that they deserve better. Also, be aware that HR has asked certain employees to fill out reviews to appear as though there is a positive attitude at this company. Read between the lines and take this into consideration when applying. Benefits are ok - but the company reduces the percentage that they pay for every year. You are forced to pay quite a bit out of an already meager salary. Company CEO's seem to think that the food and parties will make up for the poor pay. Can't bring significant others to company events.

Fetch Pet Insurance Response

I'm sorry to hear you felt this way. I wish you'd come to speak about it and we'd had the opportunity to discuss how to grow your career within Petplan. Promotions and advancement opportunities are offered to those that exceed expectations and stand out amongst their peers. The common trait of those that have taken on greater responsibility is that they strive to excel in everything they do. I don't believe that's "brown nosing," I believe that's a characteristic of high performers. We take your feedback seriously though and will consider it as we move forward.

Pros

The culture at Petplan is great, there is plenty of snacks (candy, healthy snacks, etc). They love to celebrate for any reason. The benefits are decent. They offer individual volunteer days and company sponsored volunteer days. The individuals working at petplan are wonderful. You can bring your pets to work with you. Company sponsored book signings and dog training classes.

Cons

Low Salary, compared to other pet insurance companies the salary is significantly lower. Employees are expected to perform with high output using a system that does not work properly. Goals are set without consideration to the tasks the employee is asked to work. There is no room for internal growth.

Pros

Petplan truly cares about their customers and employees. I have worked in several call centers and absolutely no call center compares to Petplan. Working in a call center can become draining but Petplan is always trying to keep things fun and interesting by having competitions, parties, etc. Employees are also rewarded when individual and/or department goals are met. As companies quickly grow they sometimes lose focus on the importance of the moral within the company and Petplan certainly has not lost focus on taking care of their customers. They care about a work/life balance and will always work with you when time off is requested. My supervisors/managers are the absolute best- no matter how busy they are they are always there when you have a question. Since I am part-time I probably have more questions than normal and I never feel like I can’t ask a question. Some other positives are bringing your pets to work, working from home, work food/candy, fun environment and MANY more. Another positive is the pay—I am happy with the amount I am paid. I feel as though my salary is within or above industry standards for a customer care representative (Happiness Manager). Also, anyone who works after noon receives a 10% shift differential. And there are always ways to receive gift cards which is a nice bonus. I was not truly looking for a part-time job until I applied to Petplan and the only reason I still have a part-time job is because of how awesome it is to work for Petplan.

Cons

The only con I have would be in regards to the system/program we use—but I know they are in the processes of fixing it.
