Pros
Super flexible schedule, claims managers are accommodating, and you can make extra money outside of your regular working hours essentially anytime. So that's before or after your shift and on the weekend. With really grinding you can get up to $100 an hour, but he was on a per claim basis during incentives (OT). You also get your monthly bonus for going above minimum claims closed per hour. There are several levels you can get, average 300-400 + a month after trained with monthly bonus. An easy 200 Xtra a week with just 2 hours of OT if you are fully trained and can hustle. It isn't like you could do 8-10 hours as this pace but working 5hrs Xtra a week you can make atleast 65k. Much more than you could ever make in hospitals. Work in PJs. Really good PTO and benefits. Fully virtual and you rarely have to attend meetings.
Cons
It can be really really mind numbing and make you question your existence. Just wasting away your life in front of computer monitors... Daily emails basically telling adjusters to move faster. 2 hr reports showing everyone's pace can feel like you are just on a hamster wheel. Getting livid with seeing how much poor medicine is done over the country- not the company's fault but it kills your soul from a vetmed point of view. The pay with doing incentives is good but the base salary is less then working 3 12 hour shifts in hospital. No PT availability. The raise is called a "merit increase" but has nothing to do with merit, same rate across the claims department. I think it was 1.345 % when we've had sky high inflation. 4 significant figures for a raise is a bit of an eye roll.
