In Omaha, the impression was given that people were promoted and/or hired for senior positions more on the basis of personal relationships with department management than their knowledge, skills or ability related to the job. Indeed, several of the ‘managing counsels’ were considered by their subordinates to be incompetent and were unwilling to listen to subordinates who had much more experience than the managers had. It seemed as though the key to advancement was not work performance but currying favor from senior staff.

Too corporate. Management is after cutting costs at the expense of the employee in order to get bonuses for themselves. Very toxic work environment. Poor culture.
