Pros

If your work is consistent you can look forward to nice paychecks. Depending on your site work can be very laidback or very intense. Great benefits as well.

Cons

End of the year work tends to slow down. Sometimes management seems out of order. as a traveling technician, you will be on the road and away from home constantly. Tough on family life

Pros

Usually plenty of work if you want it.

Cons

You have to pry every penny of salary from this company if you feel you deserve an increase. Particularly from the director level and HR department who both seem hostile to the idea of field reps making just compensation from a company whose sole existence is to, wait for it, conduct field service. Resource managers are great in my experience, and are the key to making your work life tolerable here, however, they are hamstrung by the aforementioned directors and HR departments, not to mention over zealous Service Managers. In general, the company (which seems to be nothing more than a tax loophole on a spreadsheet for GE) wants to squeeze every drop from its field personnel, with the least investment possible. It's a brilliant setup really, but the dollar seems to be its one and only focus, not the heath, retention, or fair compensation of its revenue generating employees. You will travel a lot, on very little notice most times, which takes some getting used to, and you adjust to it over time. Would be very difficult with small children at home. The administrative workload for field representatives (who are all dedicated mechanics/controls reps- NOT T/A's) is out of control, and only growing. Anyone within GE or FieldCore, or Aero-Alliance, to the mailman, who wants something filled out, reported on, documented, or recorded, need only ask the Service Manager and thy will be done. This is a very big concern from the field that is only addressed with platitudes and insincere sympathy from management.
