Pros

I’d say the best part about working as a Technical Engineer Sales & Service Specialist would be experiencing the best of both worlds. If you enjoy multitasking then this is the position for you, fast-paced environment, always moving, loud noises it’s everything you dream of that goes on inside a mechanics playground. Flag hours are at your own pace, however, this role requires the specialist to equally balance both sales and flag hours while also increasing tire unit sales. As egregious as this may sound, it goes hand-n-hand when there is enough work available for yourself and other technicians.

Cons

Of course, there are cons and they are the typical blue collar issues. First off all, open seven days per/wk and only off four days out the year…crazy. Scheduling/availability issues when employee numbers are low at specific locations. “Dry spells” as in, some days are more depressing and slower than others which then causes a loss of flag hours for the specialist. Supervising (opening/closing) the store alone with no foreseeable pay increase insight. Flags hours are less obtainable or more difficult to obtain w/o having a state inspectors license. They stress about selling CFNA’s (credit cards) when there is no remarkable incentive for the specialist. Raises are provided typically with a promotion to service manager, store manager, regional manager, and etc. Lastly, hope you don’t mind working outside in the heat/cold and using dirty bathrooms.

Pros

Benefits are about the best thing they have to offer.

Cons

Equipment never maintained properly due to managers having to nickel and dime every single thing so they can bonus. Employees smoking in the shop and in restroom which is never cleaned. Long hours and low pay. Upper management is nonexistent. Multiple encounters with OSHA due to ongoing safety issues.
