Pros

Excellant health, dental and vision insurance.

Cons

Plain and simple, every flat rate tech at every Firestone everywhere is underpaid. Simple coporate greed. They will hire anyone, regardless of qualifications, to work on vehicles, as long as they will work on flat rate, and as cheap as possilbe. Right now they have some decent techs working for them, because the economy is in bad shape and opportunities are limited, but when things turn around, the exodus will begin, and Firestone will once again be offering $3K sign-on bonuses, and will still be staffed by people who have no business working on a car. They are a stain on the auto repair industry. I have been there over a year, and with a little luck, will be gone before this year is over. I'm sick and tired of 50+ hour weeks for a flat rate I was making 15 years ago.

Pros

The pay is decent (but could be a lot better given the revenue that FCAC generates and the compensation packages of some of senior management.) Decent insurance (if you're full time).

Cons

The schedule is horrible as the store is open 7-7 Monday-Saturday, and you're there until the last car is done, even when some idiot rolls up at 6:30pm wanting 2 hours worth of service. Open Sunday so weekends off are pretty much out of the question unless you have a reason. Very few times will you get consecutive days off. Bonuses are haphazard at best. Store is only closed 5 days per year (New Year's Day, Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day).

Pros

Made great friends with the people I worked with. Learned alot about tires and auto repairs.

Cons

Terrible hours 10 to 12 hours everyday. If you want to be married to a job this is for you. Upper management has no clue how to treat people. You are just a number and your family and personal life MUST take a backseat to your job. Daily you are told to push to sell more, more more. Don't get settled in at the location you start at as you will be moved all around from location to location. Not much room to advance and when and if you do plan on spending even more time at work and get twice the amount of stress put on you from upper management. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND WORKING FOR THEM TO ANYONE
