Pros

Ability to move up if you are patient and bid your time. Get to learn about car repair, tires, and sales. Entry level pay is pretty good for retail. Some ok co-workers. That about sums it up.

Cons

Dealing with difficult customers all day just about everyday. Typical customer service/retail/sales. Some douchebag coworkers. No thanks attitude. Punch in punch out mentality. Sell, sell, sell. Did I mention sell?!?! Sales goals and CFNA applications. The tire room. Technicians can be complete a-holes. Training can be hit or miss. Depends on your store and store manager/coworkers. Training. Have to travel to different locations. (Could be a pro if you like traveling away from home) Long hours on your feet all day everyday. Work every Saturday and Sunday. No work/life balance. Especially when you get to be a manager. 70 plus hours and most of the time 6 days a week. :) Basically, forget LIFE for a while! Work, work, and more work! Good Luck!

Pros

Excellant health, dental and vision insurance.

Cons

Plain and simple, every flat rate tech at every Firestone everywhere is underpaid. Simple coporate greed. They will hire anyone, regardless of qualifications, to work on vehicles, as long as they will work on flat rate, and as cheap as possilbe. Right now they have some decent techs working for them, because the economy is in bad shape and opportunities are limited, but when things turn around, the exodus will begin, and Firestone will once again be offering $3K sign-on bonuses, and will still be staffed by people who have no business working on a car. They are a stain on the auto repair industry. I have been there over a year, and with a little luck, will be gone before this year is over. I'm sick and tired of 50+ hour weeks for a flat rate I was making 15 years ago.
