Pros

Ability to advance. Decent base pay.

Cons

Commonly interview for locations close to home and upon background check and hire, the company makes a habit to put you in a different location further and less convenient. Was hired for one position and put into the system as a much lesser position without explanation for two months. This bait and switch tactic happened with numerous other hires. Was not paid accurately for overtime worked. Was not given access to system to verify hours worked for two months. Worked at several locations and at each people were forced to work off of the clock by management due to under-staffing or direct instruction. Hostile work atmosphere and discrimination were allowed for over a decade at one location as were several wrongful terminations that culminated in at least one very successful large lawsuit -- yet manager was kept in place. Favoritism. You will be lied to about spiff, bonus and overtime structure and pay during interview -- in my experience I was being paid 2k less than what I was told to expect per month. H.R. intentionally avoided complaints and didn't resolve matters. Several people made reports and H.R. didn't even speak with these employees before closing the complaint and said employees were wrongfully terminated shortly after. Retaliation both at corporate and store level for reporting any illegal or inappropriate workplace conduct. Extremely litigious environment. Regular over-charging and lying to customers.

Pros

If you have bachelor's degree and willing to work constantly, you can move up.

Cons

Long working hours, no Saturdays off, corporate rules keep the front short on sales staff (making for stressful days at the cost of customer service), low pay, sales goals that are based on how many credit card apps you can process and how many complete vehicle inspections you can sell and not much more.

Pros

I genuinely enjoy the people that I work with. Yes, the technicians can be a bit to handle at times but if you build a good relationship with them then it usually isn't an issue. It honestly feels great to help a customer who needed your help. Good benefits and opportunities for advancement.

Cons

The hours, plain and simple. You can guarantee that you will work 50+ hours a week and forget about weekends. Standing all day and running up and down the bays while the phone rings off the hook and having 10 customers in front of you is never fun. They expect you to be plastic man, do it all and do it now. The majority of customers are not happy to be there in the first place and make you feel like it is your fault that there is something wrong with their car. The pay could be better or at least some recognition when you outsell everyone in the store that has been there for much longer than you have. At the end of the day, you just don't look forward to coming to work.
