Conservative bank, but doesn't really know how to get to where they want to be

Pros

Decent financial strength for small-mid sized bank

Cons

Pay is lower than average, Mortgage department and management is most likely the worst in the industry. Institution always talks change, but never follows through and doesn't really seems to know where they are going. They change strategic focus every year or so without making any progress.

Pros

I really enjoy the people I work with, the pay structure is higher than Wells Fargo, BB&T. The branches are not open on Saturdays which is nice.

Cons

Micromanagement, lack of care for the employees, senior management’s lack of information delivery to branch staff. Senior management does not motivate us, they just tell us to “do more”, make more calls”…while they sit in their office and send weather alerts and motivational quotes to everyone.

Pros

Benefits are great, good solid history and reputation

Cons

The bank has been successful with FDIC acquisitions in the past, which are now gone and the bank is not sure how to make money. Because of this the bank has set a high sales structure, micromanagement environment. The bank is way behind in technology, no marketing budget, and spends too much money on artwork and fancy looking furniture in the branches. Nobody cares about a George Washington bust or gold trimmed wallpaper. Turnover is high, local management does not know how to motivate and lead. Employees are leaving and more are looking to get out. The bank states “relationship banking”, which is a joke. That means the bank needs your entire relationship to make money and survive the next quarter.
