I have worked for many years in the financial industry and moving to Fischer Homes was the best decision I could have made. Starting off day 1 job 1 you get an intimate view of what this company is about and their vision for pursuing excellence. Everyone I have met in my first 90 days has been kind, motivated, and terrific team members. This organization is growing and has the perfect balance of long-term employees with decades of industry and corporate knowledge mixed with new external talent. I did have to give up remote work when I moved to Fischer Homes, but truth be told I missed the personal aspect of in-person work. This organization is a lot more agile than I expected and there could not be a more night and day difference from the stogy financial organizations I have worked for in the past. I know it is a cliché, but this place really does feel like a family and I think that is in large part due to their unique history and loyal employee base.

Cons

Some folks may feel the full time in-office environment as a con, but I have found it to be a pro. This is really a matter of corporate culture fit. Something to be aware of if it is a deal breaker for you. I have worked from home on an exception basis when circumstances demand it. Depending on your manager and area you may have the opportunity to work from home occasionally. My primary con moving to Fischer Homes has been the PTO policy. I am earning about half the PTO every 2 weeks that I did with my previous employer. This is something you expect when moving to a new organization, but the starting PTO allotment/accrual is lower than other employers I have worked for recently.

Pros

Fischer Homes has the corporate benefits but still runs like a family business. They maintained those values that set it apart from other corporate companies.

Cons

They are great about hiring/promoting within. The downside is that some of the job positions are not announced or posted before another employee is promoted. It would be great to post each position and allow other internal candidates a chance to interview.
