Great product ruined by management

Pros

Fishbowl has a decent work culture. They do all kinds of events and try to be fairly easy-going, the problem is - this company isn't a functioning company, yet everyone acts like it. It's very much a start-up yet its overridden with incompetent managers and very few skilled engineers.

Cons

The upper management is the epitome of the above point. "Presence" is valued much higher than engineering. Almost every small change to code bases requires several meetings and much planning. Initiatives and direction change every quarter with massive shifts and tons of undelivered work. Tech debt was ignored entirely for too long now many features that would keep the company competitive simply cannot be implemented. The company has decided to fire permanent engineers and outsource work again. (this is the reason permanent engineers were hired in the first place, to standardize things). The back-end is a massive black box that is nearly unscaleable.

Pros

Very cool product. Direct impact for customers. Collaboration.

Cons

Like every other company there is a lot of legacy code to work with.
