Pros

Pay is OK. Relatively open atmosphere (no cubicles to box you in); however, this can work against you as management is always looking over your shoulder

Cons

Limited advancement potential. They generally try to keep all employees limited in all aspects of professional training (licenses, etc.), presumably so they cannot flee to better companies. Most of the young employees live in SF... the commute is killer, considering that there are far better opportunities in the city Company is run in an authoritarian fashion... very little trust in employees and extreme oversight. Enron comes to mind.

Pros

Fisher Investments is a relatively young firm that's growing, so new departments and jobs come along quite frequently. Other than a solid 401k match, the firm offers absolutely no perks. I wasn't even able to park on site when I worked there and the office is located in the suburbs!

Cons

Unfortunately, about 90% of the jobs are boiled down to primarily operations. The firm seems hesitant to provide employees with the opportunity to gain real industry skills (perhaps in an effort to keep them within the company). All of the major, influential management decisions are made by only about 5 people in the firm, so don't expect your ideas to be implemented. The work hours are long and not flexible. They seem to always be understaffed due to the low retention rate - i've read that turnover is very high in the first two years.

Pros

There are not any reasons to work for Fisher Investments. My experience there was awful. They especially prey on fresh college grads who do not have the job experience to make a better judgment. Not only did I not gain any concrete skills from my experience there, but the working environment was oppressive. Management was disrespectful of staff. Expect to be micro-managed and your activities monitored. A truly terrible organization.

Cons

Please see above. Please do not work for this firm; it will not be worth your time and your talents.
