Great company, but unfortunately, the people are not so great.

Pros

Competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Cons

In this company, senior employees are often self-centered and may not have your best interests at heart. Deception and deceit are rampant within the organization.

Pros

Flad SF has a good mix of technical work and fun design projects. If you like both, or want to explore both, its a great place to be. The people are incredibly smart with a wide range of experience. The company focuses mainly on science and technology, which brings to light many of the technical aspects of architecture. In the last few years there has been a stronger focus on design and I feel that they were making great progress in that direction. I learned a lot in my position and felt that I grew exponentially professionally.

Cons

Old habits die hard, and the leadership [although great people] would fall back on tradition rather than forward thinking. This was shifting while I was there and I'm sure growth has happened in this area.

Decent place to work with poor leadership

Pros

Overall decent place to work with unique projects. Creative people. Fair pay. Very flat organization which can be good but often leads to communication and performance issues.

Cons

Lack of accountability. New CEO needs to improve communication and leadership, establish company vision. Lack of strategy and operational leadership. Toxic principal leaders can do whatever they want and are untouchable. Poor DEI - there is an initiative without action. Very much a sexist “old boys club” culture.
