Pros
- Kind, genuine co-workers at the IC level - People and talent leadership is trying their best - The product has potential and they're pivoting to find their fit If you're new in your career and looking for experience, working @ Flipboard can be a great resume builder. Flipboard is still a relatively well known house name and can get your foot in the door. If you're at all a seasoned tech worker who values their autonomy and who wants to level their skills up...I'd look elsewhere.
Cons
- No transparency - Multiple layoffs in critical departments due to lack of funding + over-hiring in 2022 - Layoffs used as an excuse to micromanage and overwork teams - No work/life balance or respect for peoples personal time (slack, emails, texts at all hours) - Big personalities and a lot of unexpected stakeholder management The platform lacks functionality that you would just expect from a modern mobile app. There was constant re-prioritization to focus on whatever is shiny and new. There's a core group of people who have been with the company for a long time that enable the "it is what it is" working environment. While well intentioned, it became clear they value their own influence more than they care about the companies success.
