Pros

The company does pay well (or at least they did, before the economic downturn really sunk in)

Cons

- Leadership has been patting themselves on the back for not laying off staff, meanwhile their plan for avoiding layoffs is to hope that 10%+ of the workforce leaves voluntarily. - Experience with the culture, benefits, etc. varies wildly depending on your department. Despite this, employees are pressured to respond positively in a myriad of surveys intended to reward Florence for its company culture. - HR actively ignores real issues with burnout, overwork, org structure, and more. At the end of the day, you are nothing more than a number and HR will always protect the company over you -- don't be fooled by all their talk of "culture". - Problematic employees are promoted, praised, and elevated - especially if they are tenured, and especially if they are in leadership - Product & Dev teams are weak and ineffectual - Mistakes are sugarcoated and part of company culture is to sweep problems under a rug. Ownership of issues and accountability is rare.

Pros

The mission to deliver clinical research orgs is great, company seems genuinely focused on the overall mission to advance medicine. Good cultural events. People are generally friendly and 1:1s to get to know each other are encouraged, which helps facilitate cross-department camaraderie and communication.

Cons

When terminations or layoffs happen, they happen VERY swiftly-- it also does not matter if your performance is great and you have a proven track record of work. It does not matter if you are engaged in the company's cultural activities or if you are proactive about getting to know people or taking initiative on different efforts to improve operations or company culture. If someone deems you "not a fit," they don't even have to provide an explanation. You do not get a warning or PIP. I have seen this a number of times with various people across the different departments who got cut and those people are almost always VERY engaged at work. Layoffs just happened and they cut out a lot of very productive, hard-working people very suddenly. Severance was offered, so not the worst but I was very disappointed in the company. They talk a huge game about culture and inclusion and addressing customer needs but it's very hypocritical. Tech layoffs are ubiquitious right now and I understand sometimes difficult financial decisions need to be made but I'm surprised Florence followed that flock. It's a "convenient" time for tech companies to lay people off right now. Seems cowardly, and the CEO says it's his fault ... I think it's fair that he admits that but the people paying the price are the families of those employees. Do better.

Pros

The people and culture team really tries. They mean well. Intentions don’t work out when leaders don’t follow the tone PC is trying to set.

Cons

They have unlimited PTO but I have never taken a single day of PTO where I wasn’t asked to work at least part of the day. Leadership is a nightmare. Nobody in leadership knows what is going on. Leaders don’t listen. Vital information is lost in translation. The company is a mess. I feel overworked and unappreciated. My boss is a snake. Benefit premiums tripled from 2022-2023.
